After reading a good number of articles from a lot of very successful traders there is one common thread that runs through all of them on the subject of success, and what it takes to achieve it in trading.

Most agree that the most difficult aspect of trading is the psychology of trading and not the technical analysis part which is what most people tend to focus on.

Here are some ponters that should help you to develop a healthy trading mindset:

  • Try to focus on the things that are going right in your trading, don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the mistakes that you have made, rather think about all the positive aspects of your trading. But don’t dismiss the mistakes either without working out what went wrong
  • Always review your trades, the good and bad ones, in detail, if possible keep chart records and write on them your thoughts about why you did what you did
  • Have clear goals defined, weekly and monthly, daily is usually not a good idea, make sure that your goals tie in with your money management rules
  • Make sure that you have a well defined trading plan
  • Always remember that trading is a probability game and as long as you have a sound trading strategy, money and risk management in place you should do well
  • You must have the belief that you will be a successful trader, this will help you stick to your trading plan

If you still do not have a sound trading strategy stop trading until you do, check out this stock trading course, it’s highly receommended.

Trading Risk Disclaimer

Futures trading involves the potential for substantial risk of loss as well as substantial gains, and is not suitable for every investor. The highly leveraged nature of futures trading means that small market movements will have a great impact on your trading account and this can work against you, leading to large losses or can work for you, leading to large gains. If the market moves against you, you may sustain a total loss greater than the amount you deposited into your account.

You are responsible for all the risks and financial resources you use and for the chosen trading system. You should not engage in trading unless you fully understand the nature of the transactions you are entering into and the extent of your exposure to loss. If you do not fully understand these risks you must seek independent advice from your financial advisor. All trading strategies are used at your own risk. It is your responsibility to confirm and decide which trades to make. Trade only with risk capital; that is, trade with money that, if lost, will not adversely impact your lifestyle and your ability to meet your financial obligations.
